Volunteers: Strength & Heart Serving the Land Trust Of Danbury Since 1971
Volunteers with a wide range of interests and talents have been the vital force behind the continued growth, strength and success of The Land Trust of Danbury since its very beginning in 1971. The Land Trust of Danbury began as a volunteer organization and we could not have come this far without the support of our dedicated volunteers.
Get involved!
Today we offer many opportunities for Volunteers to get involved with our Organization. Take a moment to read our Volunteer Opportunity descriptions and see what roles may interest you. Don't see how you fit in? We have many other ways for volunteers to help out. Contact us and we'll let you know how you can help.
Volunteer Roles
Our volunteer opportunities include the following:
- PROPERTY STEWARD*: Assist in the stewardship of a specially assigned TLTOD property, monitor the property bi-annually and maintain its boundaries, do light maintenance during monitoring excursions, and report on conditions to the TLTOD's Land Management Committee.
- CONSERVATION CORPS*: Preserve and improve the physical and biological components of The Land Trust of Danbury’s Properties. The Conservation Corps works closely with our Land Management Committee to help carry out exciting projects including Invasive Species Monitoring & Control, and Natural Resource Inventories.
- TRAIL-BLAZER*: Forge new hiking trails which generations to come will use and enjoy and have the opportunity to learn new skills including trail design, Geographic Information Systems and mapping.
- TRAIL GUARDIAN*: Act as guardian of a Land Trust of Danbury Hiking Trail(s); engage your friends and ensure that our trails are being maintained for all to enjoy.
- TRAIL GUIDE: Lead or help lead guided hikes of Land Trust properties. Learn about our local flora and fauna, our history, or if you just like to lead hikes!
- FIELD CHIEF: help the Land Trust of Danbury develop education programs for schools and other local groups and increase awareness of the TLTOD and land conservation in the Greater Danbury area – and inspire children at a young age.
- CONSULTING VOLUNTEERS: Individuals or companies with special talents or expertise who provide pro bono project-based services. These volunteers work with the Board or Committee Member who has oversight responsibility for a particular project. Consulting volunteers help us with: real estate law, estate planning, land surveying, land appraisal, natural resource evaluation (i.e., biologists), event planning, leading outings (with experience in outdoor leadership or natural sciences), grant-writing, writing articles, photography, and graphic design.
If you would like to sign up for a volunteer opportunity or would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us through our Volunteer Coordinator.
